As things stand now, points remain a viable path to the playoffs. It’s encouraging to be on the edge of contention. His impressive fourth-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 last month demonstrated his potential on an oval. “We’re working hard at it, but as a young Cup team, we’re still finding our way,” he remarked about Kaulig Racing’s efforts to secure a win on an oval this season. “I’ve been fortunate in my seven years on the Xfinity side to show that I can be competitive on ovals. We’ve won on every type of oval—short tracks, mile-and-a-half tracks, two-mile racetracks, and superspeedways. It’s tough, and we’re evolving as an organization, but weekends like the Coke 600 show that when we execute, we can run up front with the best.”

My team often reminds me that I have nothing left to prove, but I feel the need to demonstrate my capabilities every time I step into the car. It’s been a tough road, but if you told me back in 2007 that I’d still be competing in the Cup Series in 2025 and remaining competitive, I would have thought you were crazy. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity.”
