Formula 1 – Qatar Grand Prix – Final Results – 2025
Who triumphed in today’s Formula 1 race? McLaren took the victory with ease, but Red Bull also made headlines! On Sunday, November 30, 2025, the main race of the Qatar Grand Prix was held at the Losail International Circuit.
Race Start and Early Positions
The race commenced smoothly, with no significant incidents during the initial laps. Following the first few corners, Oscar Piastri claimed the lead, closely pursued by Max Verstappen, who managed to overtake Lando Norris right at the start. By the end of the first lap, the top ten drivers were Piastri, Verstappen, Norris, followed by Antonelli, Sainz, Alonso, Russell, Hadjar, Gasly, and Hulkenberg, with Bortoleto sitting in 19th place.
Mid-Race Developments
Around lap 10, Hulkenberg was involved in an accident that not only forced him to retire from the race but also led to a red flag and the deployment of the safety car. All teams, except for the two McLaren cars, took the opportunity to change their tires. When racing resumed, the top ten consisted of Piastri, Norris, Verstappen, Sainz, Antonelli, Alonso, Hadjar, Russell, Leclerc, and Bearman, while Bortoleto was now in 15th position.
As the race progressed, there were no significant changes in the standings until lap 20. The action remained steady, and on lap 24, Piastri made his pit stop and returned to the track in 5th place. The following lap saw Norris making his tire change as well, and he also returned to the race in 5th, just behind Piastri, who was in 4th.
By lap 30, all drivers had completed their pit stops, and the top ten at that point were Verstappen, Sainz, Antonelli, Piastri, Norris, Alonso, Hadjar, Russell, Leclerc, and Bearman. On lap 33, Verstappen entered the pits for his second tire change, coming out with hard compounds in 3rd place, with Sainz and Antonelli rounding out the top five.
Strategy and Final Pit Stops
As the race neared its conclusion, lap 43 saw McLaren make an unexpected decision to bring Piastri in for an early tire change, putting him back on the track with hard tires in 3rd place but still over 18 seconds behind Verstappen. Norris made his last pit stop on lap 45, rejoining in 5th place with hard tires, trailing Sainz and Antonelli.
Race Conclusion
As the race came to an end, it was clear that McLaren made a critical error by not utilizing their pit stop during the only safety car period. This blunder opened the door for Max Verstappen to claim victory through strategic maneuvering and impressive track performance. Piastri managed to secure second place but lost his position in the championship standings to Verstappen. Sainz, who had an outstanding weekend, completed the podium in third place. Norris made a move on Antonelli in the penultimate lap, finishing in 4th, while George Russell secured the 5th spot for Mercedes.
Following them were Fernando Alonso, Leclerc, Lawson, and Tsunoda, who rounded out the top ten. Lewis Hamilton, who started in 17th place, finished the race in 12th. As for Gabriel Bortoleto, he qualified in 14th but lost five positions due to a penalty for a collision with Stroll in Las Vegas, starting from 19th. Throughout the race, thanks to a collision involving his teammate and Gasly, along with a good pit stop and retirements from Bearman and Hadjar, he gained six positions, finishing the race in 13th place.
Championship Standings 2025
With the outcome of the race, the title decision has been pushed to Abu Dhabi due to McLaren’s mishap of not pitting during the safety car period. What a twist! Notably, there are still mathematical chances for Norris, Verstappen, and Piastri, all of whom have achieved seven victories each, but the trophy is within reach of Lando.
In the current championship standings, Lando Norris remains in the lead with 408 points, followed closely by Max Verstappen in second place with 396 points, and Oscar Piastri in third with 392 points. You can find the updated and complete standings here!
