Formula 1 – Starting Grid for the Canadian Grand Prix

Who Secured Pole Position in F1?

In an unexpected turn of events, it was a Mercedes driver who claimed the pole position in Montreal, leaving McLaren in the dust! On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the qualifying session unfolded to determine the starting grid for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix. George Russell delivered an impressive performance, clocking a time of 1:10.899, making him the only driver to break into the 1:10s bracket. Max Verstappen followed closely behind, ensuring that the first row was secured by the two top contenders, with Oscar Piastri rounding out the top three.

The rest of the top ten featured Kimi Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso, who had been enjoying a solid weekend up to that point. Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, Isack Hadjar, and Alexander Albon filled out the remainder of the top ten positions. However, Hadjar faced a setback after being penalized three positions for obstructing another driver during the session. Meanwhile, Tsunoda, who finished qualifying in 11th, received a ten-position penalty for overtaking under a red flag during one of the practice sessions. This allowed Albon to move up to 9th place, and Colapinto made his way into the top ten.

Gabriel Bortoleto, our representative in the race, finished the qualifying session in 16th place but will start in 15th due to Tsunoda’s penalty.

With the race scheduled to take place at 3:00 PM (Brasilia time) on Sunday, June 15, 2025, fans can find the complete weekend schedule right here. For insights into the expectations of drivers and teams, along with other pertinent information, be sure to check this out!
