MotoGP – German Grand Prix – Schedule – 2025

Is there a MotoGP race this weekend? Absolutely! From July 11 to July 13, 2025, the German Grand Prix will take place, marking the 11th round of the 2025 MotoGP season. The race weekend kicks off with the sprint race scheduled to start at 10:00 AM on Saturday, followed by the main race at 9:00 AM on Sunday. Both times are listed in Brasília time. The event will be broadcasted, as always, on ESPN and Disney+ Premium, alongside the Moto2 and Moto3 races, though Moto E will not be included this time.

The venue for this exciting event is the Sachsenring, a circuit located near Chemnitz, approximately 40 kilometers south of Leipzig. Historically, Sachsenring was a street circuit where the first race took place back in 1927. The current layout, established in 1996, spans 3,670 meters, a considerable reduction from the original circuit, which measured around 8 kilometers. In 1998, MotoGP moved the German Grand Prix from Nürburgring to Sachsenring, and since then, the venue has seen impressive attendance. The counterclockwise track features a challenging layout, including a long straight that exceeds 700 meters, and currently consists of 13 corners—3 right turns and 10 left turns.

Last Year (2024)

Reflecting on last year’s event, Jorge Martin faced a challenging season with several defeats against Francesco Bagnaia. However, he managed to reclaim his winning status during the sprint race that weekend! Martin secured first place, while Oliveira held onto his starting position to finish second, and Bagnaia rounded off the podium.

In the main race, Martin started from pole position and led for nearly the entire race. Unfortunately, he lost control of his bike on the penultimate lap and crashed. Bagnaia, who was trailing behind, took advantage of this slip-up to seize the lead and capture crucial championship points. The standout performer of the day was undoubtedly Marc Marquez, who started from 13th place and executed a flawless race to finish in second place. Remarkably, his brother and teammate, Alex Marquez, also made it to the podium, completing a memorable day for the Marquez family.

The 2025 Season

Moving on to the 2025 season, the last round took place in the Netherlands at Assen. Even starting from the second row (fourth position) in both races, Marc Marquez continued to showcase his dominance. He secured two additional victories, while Alex Marquez unfortunately had to retire from the main race, further extending Marquez’s lead in the championship standings.

In the sprint race, Marc Marquez emerged victorious once again, with Alex Marquez finishing in second place. Bezzecchi claimed the third spot in the race. Following closely were Di Giannantonio and Francesco Bagnaia. The main race also saw Marc Marquez clinching victory, followed by Bezzecchi and Bagnaia completing the podium.

As it stands in the championship standings, Marc Marquez leads comfortably with 307 points, while Alex Marquez sits in second with 239 points. Bagnaia occupies third place with 181 points, making the competition intense as the season progresses.
