MotoGP Spain Grand Prix 2025: What to Expect This Weekend

Are you ready for an exciting weekend of MotoGP action? The MotoGP series is set to host its fifth race of the 2025 season from April 25 to April 27, 2025, at the iconic Circuit de Jerez in Spain. Known for its thrilling races and passionate fans, Jerez has been a staple in the MotoGP calendar since it first opened in 1986. This year marks the 38th anniversary of the circuit, which has a length of 4,400 meters, features 13 turns, a width of 11 meters, and boasts a straightaway of 607 meters.

A Brief Look Back at 2024’s Race

Last year’s event was nothing short of spectacular. Jorge Martin claimed victory in the sprint race, with Pedro Acosta and Dani Pedrosa joining him on the podium. Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo rounded out the top five, while Francesco Bagnaia had to retire early from the race. In the main event, it was Bagnaia who took home the gold, finishing ahead of Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi, who secured third place.

2025 Season Overview

As we dive into the 2025 season, there have already been eight races—four sprints and four main events—held in various locations such as Thailand, Argentina, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), and Qatar. The latest sprint race in Qatar saw Marc Marquez showcasing his skills, successfully defending against his brother Alex Marquez in the early stages before cruising to another victory. Alex and Morbidelli also made it to the podium, finishing in second and third, respectively. In the main race, Ducati riders Marc Marquez and Bagnaia secured a one-two finish, while Morbidelli, Johann Zarco, and Dennis Foggia completed the top five standings.

At present, Marc Marquez is leading the championship with a total of 123 points, followed closely by Alex Marquez with 106 points and Bagnaia in third with 97 points. Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio complete the top five with 78 and 48 points, respectively. You can find the updated standings and detailed information on the championship at various sports news websites.

One of the notable stories this season is Jorge Martin’s recovery after suffering multiple injuries, including the fracture of 11 ribs during the Qatar race. He has been discharged from the Doha hospital but is expected to take at least three months to fully recuperate.
